Caribous are considered to be one of the most prolific big game in Alaska and as such, may be found in a variety of locations. Engaging in Caribou hunting is said to start in early August.

One other popular spot when it comes to Alaska hunting destinations is the Mat Su area. It is found near Anchorage and is near a metropolitan area that can make access to it much easier. The game here consists of moose, caribou, mountain goats, sheep and bear. Waterfowls also migrate here providing opportunities for those who wish to hunt ducks.
